Pay your energy bills, government tells Kurdish mayor

Local authorities from the mainly Kurdish city of Diyarbakır in southeast Turkey must repay an outstanding TL 265 million ($113 million) in electricity bill debts to the state, a senior government official said on Sunday, a statement that signals the continuation of lingering tension over illegal power use in the region.
