Turkey's gender gap widens, ranks 125 among 142 countries
Turkey fell five places this year to 125th in the Global Gender Gap Report, commissioned by the World Economic Forum and released on Tuesday.
For 2014, 142 countries were ranked according to an index that measured national gender gaps on economic, political, education and health-based criteria. The objective of the project is to find whether women are presented with equal opportunities as men, regardless of whether they are in rich countries or poor ones. In the first report, produced in 2006, Turkey ranked 105 out 115 countries surveyed.
