İstanbul burning: Cheap politics ruining city's history and aesthetic
The historic Hüseyin Avni Paşa mansion imbedded in the forests of Üsküdar burned to unrecognizable pieces a week ago. Tragic as it is, even worse is how standard this type of incident has become in İstanbul. Since 2002, seven historical buildings in İstanbul have burned down. Many architects agree that buildings like these are not properly cared for, but rather sacrificed for a cheaper price tag.
