The government, which has been criticized for undermining judicial and administrative oversight, does not have a good report card in respect to legislative oversight either. The rate of parliamentary written questions answered on time by the 26-member Cabinet, including Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is 18 percent. Deputies of the opposition parties have underlined that the government is preventing legislative oversight and are complaining about the Cabinet's failure to answer written parliamentary questions in a timely manner. The Justice and Development Party (AK Party) government has bypassed the auditing of the Court of Accounts, which conducts public audits in the name of the nation, by amending the Court of Accounts Law in 2013, and has also amended the Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) Law in order to get rid of judicial oversight.
