THE HAGUE – About 13 million voters are set to go to the polls in the Netherlands on Wednesday to elect 403 new local councils.

A Netherlands passport or identity card is not necessary for residents to be able to vote in the ballot, as citizens from other members’ states of the European Union who reside in the Netherlands are allowed to cast a ballot on equal status with Dutch citizens.
