Turkey loses bid for Expo 2020

(ANSAmed) - ANKARA, NOVEMBER 27 - Turkey lost its bid Wednesday to have Smyrna host the Expo 2020. The country's third largest city after Istanbul and Ankara, the metropolis on the Aegean Sea was eliminated in the second round this afternoon for the World Expo, which Milan will be hosting in 2015. Smyrna garnered only 36 votes compared with the Russian city of Yekaterinburg's 41 and Dubai's 87, reports Hurriyet Online.
