Istanbul to Host World Petroleum Congress
By Alex Brown
Despite a late push by Texas politicians, Istanbul narrowly edged Houston on Wednesday for the right to host the World Petroleum Congress, Fuel Fix reports.
Had Houston hosted the 2017 event, it would have been the first U.S. city to do so in 30 years. Istanbul captured 55 percent of the final vote to Houston's 45 percent. The vote on hosting rights for the "oil-and-gas Olympics" took place in Calgary, Alberta.
