Turkish Government’s official position is that the elected president can only be removed at the ballot box and not by force. While Turkish cabinet ministers have issued statements calling for Morsi’s reinstatement, Minister for EU Affairs Egemen Bagis called on the European Union to intervene in Egyptian affairs, which contradicts the minister’s rebuke of the European Parliament last month that Europe had no business interfering in Turkey’s internal affairs in relation to Ankara’s handling of mass protests.
