Putin, Erdogan downplay Syria differences, hail energy projects

Despite differences over Syria, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasised at their Istanbul meeting their countries’ deepening economic ties, signing a series of bilateral economic agreements and highlighting Russia’s construction of Turkey’s first nuclear power plant.
