Graham Fuller has written a very useful analysis of the foreign policy options facing Turkey. Although The New Turkish Republic was published in 2008, the analysis is still solid, and his predictions concerning the trends of Turkish politics have been largely correct. Fuller spent most of his career in the CIA, and the book is an example of good policy writing. There is an understanding of history, but it is used in order to analyse the present. The focus is on Turkey, but Fuller provides a picture of the politics of the broader Middle East context.
