In Turkish-Armenian relations, the most widely mentioned concept is “normalization.” What is meant by this is the opening of the 325 km-long Turkish-Armenian border which Ankara decided to close in April 1993 basically in response to Armenia’s ambivalence over the recognition of its common border with Turkey and Armenian aggression directed toward Azerbaijan in the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute.
