Turkish parliament rejected a key article of a constitutional amendment bill on Monday, a blow to the controversial reform launched by the government but strongly criticized by opposition parties and the judiciary.
The article, which would make it harder to close political parties, received 327 votes at the 550-seat General Assembly, less than the 330 votes needed to get it approved in the final round of voting over the bill, Turkish media reported. "
