1. Commissioner, after two months in office - how does it feel to represent the EU Commission's most unpopular policy area?

I don't really have the feeling it is the most unpopular area. Wherever I go I don't feel that unpopular. I think to a large extent, this is a myth. It is a reflection of the fact that for many years we have bean locked into the debate about the deepening of integration, about the Constitution and the Lisbon Treaty. It led us to not pay enough attention to enlargement. We all remember the claims that enlargement is not possible without a new treaty, creating an environment which was not very enlargement-friendly. That does not mean that there is indeed "enlargement fatigue". And we have removed the obstacle since now we have the Lisbon treaty. "
