In 2004, Pennsylvania State University Professor Alfred Mueller took aim at then Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert for past actions, which seemingly demonstrated his lack of tenacity and resolve. Mueller’s criticisms surround Hastert’s decision in 2000 to withdraw his support of the House Resolution 546—which would have defined Ottoman Turkey’s harsh treatment of Armenians from 1915-1923 as genocide—when he, at the last minute, withdrew the bill from the House’s consideration. "
