"Istanbul tops unemployment list among Turkish cities

Istanbul ranked highest in unemployment in 2009 among Turkish cities with an unemployment rate of 16.8%.
The number of unemployed in Istanbul, Turkey's most populous city, reached 753,000 in 2009 marking a 52.7% rise over the previous year, revealed data compiled from TurkStat figures."
