An international press freedom group has criticized Turkey over the trial of a Kurdish-origin journalist who is threatened with 525 years in jail.

Vedat Kurşun, former head of the daily Kurdish-language newspaper Azadiya Welat, is accused of publishing articles "glorifying crimes and criminals" and "helping the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party [or PKK] in its propaganda.""
