ISTANBUL, Dec 31 (Reuters) - Turkish bonds and the lira rallied on Thursday and shares hit a fresh high for the year after a media report the International Monetary Fund had agreed to Turkey's conditions for a loan deal.
The Turkish lira firmed 1.5 percent to 1.4900 against the dollar on the interbank market from a close of 1.5125 on Wednesday. The lira has traded flat this year and is 2.6 percent stronger than at the end of 2008.
'The Turkish market is expected to end 2009 in an upbeat mode on the back of rumours that PM Erdogan signalled a green light to a possible IMF agreement,' Is Investment said in a note."
