[Ankara, Turkey] A tall, dark-haired woman with the striking, chiseled looks of a warrior chief, comes across as the model of self-composed strength. One wouldn’t think Hatice Coban used to conceal her identity. She wasn’t ashamed of being Kurdish, but it wasn’t something to advertise in a country where nation-building includes the white-washing of hillsides with the Ataturk quote “How happy is he who calls himself a Turk.”"
