...The second caveat is Turkey. Mr. Obama made a point of going there on his first trip to Europe, and he has raised America’s image from an abysmal to a mediocre level. But Turkey remains the country whose public is most skeptical of Mr. Obama and American leadership. It also has little faith in E.U. leadership. When asked whether they are part of the West in terms of values, half of those polled said no. While support for E.U. membership has risen slightly, a majority said they do not believe Turkey will ever become a member of the Union."
