"TERRORISM: ISTANBUL, 1 AL-QAEDA MILITANT KILLED, 3 CAPTURED

(AGI) - Istanbul, 29 Jan.- According to a local CNN network channel, citing the governor of Bosporus Muammer Guler, a presumed al-Qaeda militant was killed today in Istanbul in a shootout with Turkish policemen. Three presumed accomplices were also captured during the episode. The governor explained that the shootout occurred after police surprised 4 suspected terrorists while trying to rob a post office in a suburb of Sultanbeyli, probably to finance their group. One policeman was slightly injured. Several attacks have been attributed to the terrorist group founded by Osama bi Laden. In 2003 al-Qaeda terrorist cells in Istanbul carried out several attacks killing a total of 60 people."
