On arrival in Istanbul airport, for the last leg of my journey that went across Egypt, Jordan and Syria, I agreed to take a hotel booking from an agent at the airport, on condition that I get the money back if I don't like the room. The room turned out to be no match for the high rate, but the agent flatly refused to return the money and was also exceptionally rude."
