Academy to exhibit Byzantine art

"Academy to exhibit Byzantine art

London's Royal Academy of Arts is set to display 300 priceless artefacts from a period spanning over 1,000 years, as part of a major exhibition on the Byzantine Empire.

The exhibition begins with pieces from the foundation of Constantinople in 330 AD and concludes with artefacts dating to when the city was captured by the Ottoman Empire, in 1453. Many of the pieces which will be on display - ranging from manuscripts and mosaics to jewels and icons - have never been seen in the UK."
