Organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts and sponsored by Borusan Holding, the 36th International Istanbul Music Festival will take place between June 6-30, 2008.
The festival opened with a ceremony on Friday, June 6 at the Hagia Eirene Museum. One of the greatest sopranos of the 20th Century Leyla Gencer as well as Aydın Gün, one of the fouders of Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts who passed away recently, were celebrated with a short programme. The festival was inaugurated by a concert of the Vienna Chamber Philharmonic, made up of prize-winning young musicians. After the opening concert of the 36th International Istanbul Music Festival a reception was held at the Archaeology Museum Garden."
