ISTANBUL // Everyone knows what “9/11” stands for, but when it comes to having dates speak for momentous events in history, it is hard to beat the Turks. In Istanbul, it is not unusual to have a long and earnest political debate in which phrases like “February 28”, “April 27”, “July 22” or “September 12” are used with an ease and an abundance that can throw novices to Turkey’s political scene into utter confusion."
