Istanbul_turkey Turkey is facing its second constitutional crisis in as many years. Last year, the Turkish military threatened on its website to intervene in Turkey's domestic politics if Abdullah Gul of the mildly Islamist AK Party was nominated by the parliament for the position of president - the so-called 'e-coup.' Following snap elections called by prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in which the AKP won, Erdogan called the military's bluff and nominated Gul anyway. The military backed down and Gul is now the president of Turkey. Crisis averted right?"
