Daily Cumhuriyet’s senior columnist Turhan Selcuk harshly criticised the new headscarf law in Turkey. Mr. Selcuk also blamed the majority of Turkish voters for their clear support for the governing AK Party in the latest general elections. Turhan Selcuk further labelled the current governing party as ‘Islamist’ and ‘Americanist’ (Pro-American)."
