"Turkish Finance Chief: No Need to Panic

ISTANBUL, Turkey -
Turkey's finance minister said Wednesday that tight fiscal policy would help shield Turkey against the effects of economic woes in the United States.
Fears that economic turmoil would hit emerging economies resulted in a sharp decrease in the Turkish benchmark ISE-100 stock index, which has fallen 20 percent so far this year. After making large gains, the Turkish lira has fallen 7 percent against the dollar in the past week."
