"The U.S.-Turkish-Iraq Triangle
December 24, 2007
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's mild rebuke of Turkey this past week for launching military operations inside neighboring Iraq came across as less than genuine.
Contrary to Turkey's claim, the United States didn't give prior approval of the attack, she said. She suggested that the United States wasn't even aware of the military incursion until it began. Maybe there was no approval, but surely U.S. intelligence agencies knew what Turkey's government was up to. With all the U.S. money pouring into Iraq, we better know of a pending border incursion that could easily lead to a full regional war."
