ANKARA, Turkey: Hundreds of supporters of a pro-Kurdish political party that prosecutors are trying to ban clashed with police during a party rally in southeastern Turkey on Saturday.

The clash broke out in the city of Van when hundreds of members of the Democratic Society Party resisted police attempts to detain three party members. The three chanted illegal slogans in support of imprisoned Kurdish rebel chief Abdullah Ocalan and carried posters with his picture."
