Turks reacted angrily today to a U.S. House committee non-binding and largely symbolic vote in Washington that condemned the mass killings of Armenians in Turkey during World War I as an act of genocide. If the resolution is approved by the full House, it could affect Turkey’s aid in the Iraq war. Meanwhile, The Associated Press reported that the Armenian president, Robert Kocharian, today welcomed the resolution but also urged Turkey to join in talks with Armenia to restore bilateral relations."
