Turkish workers who immigrated to Europe, Germany in particular, have sent foreign currency amounting to $130 billion to Turkey since the 1960s. Turkish workers, whose foreign currency reserves at the Central Bank of Turkey amount to $16 billion, tend to seek stability in their investment environments during Turkish economic crises, a study has found. Following the economic crises of 1994, 2000 and 2001, Turkey experienced considerable decreases in the inflow of foreign currency from Turkish workers abroad."
