Turkish girls missing out on education, says report 'Turkey needs to make more effort to educate girls in some regions. It is not enough to pass a law, it also has to be implemented,' said MEP Christa Prets during a discussion at the European Parliament’s Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality in Brussels on 26 June. At the meeting, ETF director Muriel Dunbar and Eva Jimeno Sicilia, ETF regional co-ordinator for the European Neighbourhood Policy Instrument, presented a new ETF report entitled 'Gender mainstreaming in education and employment in Turkey, Jordan and Morocco.' The study shows that 400,000 girls in the southern part of Turkey do not currently receive any schooling."
