"No secularism warning from Rehn, says commission The European Commission has categorically rejected reports that Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn voiced concern over potential threats to the secular principles of the Turkish Republic.
Some Turkish newspapers reported yesterday that Rehn had issued warnings regarding secularism being endangered during a television interview with a private Turkish TV channel. Rehn’s spokeswoman Krisztina Nagy told Today’s Zaman that the commissioner had not issued any such caution and added that Rehn considered Turkey a “secular democracy.”"
