Jaslan Jakdimbetov, a Kazakh businessman who moved his business to Turkey last year, becoming an exporter shortly thereafter, said Kazakh investment initiatives in neighboring countries have increased as a result of the accumulation of wealth following the recent high growth in Kazakhstan’s economy. “Turkey in particular has a great potential in this respect,” Jakdimbetov said, recalling his establishment of a pipe factory in İstanbul’s Silivri district. “Not paying even one penny’s worth of bribes, we formed a manufacturing plant there. Turkey is a real paradise for foreign investments,” he claimed. Last year the company’s exports from Turkey were worth $3 million, and it is now hoping to raise this figure to $5 million in 2007."
