THE findings of a university on the weaknesses of Turkish businesses were lost in translation on Friday night.

Turkish Speaking entrepreneurs were advised to embrace a “new way” of doing things as they are at risk of being left behind in an increasingly competitive market place. The message at times failed to reach the attendees, who requested on more than one occasion that the speaker’s comments be translated into Turkish.

Dr Levent Altinay, Principle Investigator at Oxford Brookes University, congratulated Turkish Speaking, and ethnic minorities in general, for their significant contribution to the UK economy.

Turkish community self-employment levels are believed to be between 20 and 30%, according to a report by Hackney Council. "
