Fed up with Iraqi-Kurdish nationalist terrorists from the Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) launching attacks into southeastern Turkey, Ankara has massed troops on the Iraqi border and is threatening to repeat its late-1990s incursions into Kurdistan. Meanwhile, Washington and Baghdad — both stretched by “surge” operations in Baghdad — are urging calm while quietly backing off, creating some diplomatic distance from the coming fighting."
