ankara • More than two-thirds of Turks are opposed to Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan becoming president, a survey published yesterday in the anti-government Cumhuriyet daily showed. The survey, conducted by the respected Sonar polling agency, showed 71 per cent of those canvassed did not want Erdogan, a charismatic but controversial politician on account of his Islamist past, to take the presidency in a May election."
