"UNESCO set to honor Turkish culture and history for next three years
With UNESCO having declared 2007 the Year of Mevlana in recognition of the 800th anniversary of the Turkish philosopher and mystic’s birth, the international organization has also set aside three other important figures from Turkish culture and history to be honored in 2008 and 2009.
In 2008 and 2009, UNESCO will also honor Turkish linguist and writer Kaşgarlı Mahmut, travel writer Katip Çelebi and religious philopher Hacı Bektaş Veli. "
