"Sarkozy proposes 'Mediterranean union'
French Interior Minister and presidential hopeful Nicolas Sarkozy yesterday proposed the establishment of a Mediterranean union to fight terrorism, bribery and organized crime.
'We need a union in the Mediterranean,' said Sarkozy, adding that France, Greece, Italy, Turkey, Portugal, Spain and the Greek Cypriot administration would be members of the new bloc. "
