Turkish Economist Expected to Win Nobel Prize: Daron Acemoğlu

"Turkish Economist Expected to Win Nobel Prize: Daron Acemoğlu

Hello Mr. Acemoğlu First of all, Lets start with your great background from your education in England and then lets talk about your experiences in States. What can you tell to the readers of Mezun.com about those days? What were the reasons for you choosing States?

I originally chose to study in the United Kingdom, because at the time I was not happy with the academic environment in Turkish universities. There seemed to be too much politics and not enough academia. The UK seemed close enough to Turkey so not too far from the family, and a good academic environment. I benefited a lot from my education at the University of York and at the London School of Economics."
