President Ahmet Sezer attended an ulusalci TV channel's birthday ceremony last week. This, once again, brought the ulusalcis into the spotlight. Ulusalcis are a coalition of several smaller groups which up to now haven't had their own program but recently came together as a reaction to three intertwined developments: the Justice and Development Party (AKP) government, the European Union membership process, and U.S. policies in the Middle East, particularly the U.S. help for the Kurds."
