"POPE IN TURKEY: MARY BINDS CHRISTIANS AND MUSLIMS, BENEDICT XVI SAYS
Ephesus, 29 Nov. (AKI) - Pope Benedict XVI maintained his conciliatory stance towards Islam during the second day of his historical visit to Turkey by stressing how devotion to Jesus Christ's mother, Mary, is something Christians and Muslims share. 'From here in Ephesus, a city blessed by the presence of Mary Most Holy - who we know is loved and venerated also by Muslims - let us lift up to the Lord a special prayer for peace between peoples,' the pope said in his sermon during a mass held at the south-western Turkish town where Mary is believed to have spent her last days on Earth."
