"Some bird species in Turkey face threat of extinction

Some of Turkey's bird species face an imminent threat of extinction due to the destruction of wetlands and marshes, major habitat of flesh-eating waterfowls, a Turkish official warned on Friday.
The semi-official Anatolia news agency quoted Nature Association Director General Guven Eken as saying that one out of every four bird species has become extinct over the last years, adding that the situation was even worse for water birds."
