A year after the start of negotiations, Turkey and the European Union are struggling to avoid clashes over the Cyprus issue.
Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkanende said recent developments regarding Turkey’s EU bid were natural as he recalled Cyprus is not part of the Copenhagen Criteria."
