Istanbul Modern and Istanbul Biennale
The greatest gain for Istanbul’s contemporary art scene is the relatively recently founded Istanbul Modern. The museum’s aim is to work together with worldwide prominent art institutions and to promote both international and domestic artists. Past exhibitions such as The Center of Gravity, which showed renowned artists like Jeff Koons and Anish Kapoor, and Fikret Mualla were globally recognized as great successes. From 18th October 2006 – 18th January 2007, Istanbul Modern is hosting the exhibition Venice – Istanbul."
