Bucharest. “The European Union will make a mistake if it rejects Turkey’s wish to join the bloc”, Romanian President Trajan Basescu said, Mediafax reported.
“If the country’s EU accession is impeded, the crisis between the West and Islamist fundamentalists will deepen, and security in Europe will be undermined. I’m a supporter of Turkey’s EU accession…Leaving Turkey outside the European borders will make it an Islamist state”, Basescu said in an interview with Reuters."
