Turkey has an increasing influence in the Middle East but it should not be exaggerated, a former UN official acknowledged.

Former spokesperson and senior advisor to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Timur Goksel told Cihan News Agency that Turkey has an enhanced popularity in the Middle East. 'Turkey has increased its influence. However, this (increase in influence) should not be exaggerated.'"
