The employment of women in Turkey should increase by at least two-and-a-half times to meet European Union standards, research carried out by the Turkish Confederation of Employers' Union (TİSK) revealed last week.

According to the TİSK research, Turkey's figure of 24.3 percent for the employment of women is the lowest among EU member and candidate countries. This figure shrank 4.4 percent in 2004, earning Turkey the title �country of the fastest decreasing female employment.� "
