"U.S.-TURKEY: FOREIGN MINISTER IN WASHINGTON FOR TALKS

Ankara, 4 July (AKI) - Turkish foreign minister Abdullah Gul will begin a two-day official visit to the United States on Wednesday, when he will meet his American counterpart, US secretary of state, Condoleezza Rice, and national security adviser, Stephen Hadley. During his stay, Gul will also meet with members of the US Congress. The trip is aimed at establishing common ground between the two NATO allies on subjects including the Iraq war, and the fight against rebels from the autonomy-seeking Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), as well as on the Middle East and the divided island of Cyprus."
