Much has been made in the news media of the patriotic interest in the German team being shown by this country's Turkish minority, which has seemed to many ethnic Germans to have avoided assimilation and continued to root for Turkey, which was knocked out of World Cup competition by Switzerland.
But for now, at least, that has changed.
The newsweekly Der Spiegel showed pictures of what might be the ultimate in German multiculturalism: four broadly smiling Muslim women in head scarves draping themselves in the German colors. ..."
